How to use the Vlookup Formula / Function in Microsoft Excel

How to use the Vlookup Formula / Function in Excel As a long-time computer consultant/trainer , I am often asked about the proper way to use the powerful Vlookup function in a formula in Excel.

The vlookup function has many purposes. It can be used to compare data between 2 sheets, or merge information from 2 or more sheets into one sheet. Another possible use of it would be to convert a number grade into the appropriate letter grade. You can use the Vlookup function to calculate the tax rate based on someone's salary. Perhaps you were filling out an order, and when you fill in the part number , you want the proper description and unit price for that part to fill in automatically. The vlookup formula can be used for all of these purposes and alot more.

The Excel vlookup formula can be a little complicated, but once you use it a few times, you will get used to it, and find many uses for it.

Here's a video I made to demonstrate how to use the vlookup formula / function in Excel :

Tom Fragale - Celebrating 20 years as a Self - Employed Business Owner!

This month, I celebrate 20 years as a self-employed small business owner.

Wow, what a ride its been! Many highs, many lows. Many triumphs, and many mistakes.

And I wouldn't trade those 20 years for anything!

There's 2 main sources of my income.

I am a computer professional and trainer. I spent many years as a programmer, but now I concentrate on training people how to use many of the popular software programs on their computer : Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Crystal Reports, etc.

I have had the honor of teaching over 35,000 people in live classes in 46 states over the past 14 years!

To see many of my recorded training videos, please go to my youtube channel:
https://www.youtube.com/user/TomFragale

I have reorganized the channel, I am always adding new videos, and I think its a great place to learn a thing or about getting real results with your computer , and to improve your skills.

My computer business has always been , and will always be, My "Plan A".

As a self-employed person, I wanted to make sure that I also had a second source of income, or a "Plan B", to make up for the low times that occur occasionally.

After trying many things, I know that I have finally found the "Plan B" that I can hang my hat on, long-term.

For my "Plan B", I am building my own Solavei business, and I have been doing this since 9/12. Solavei is a social commerce company whose mission is help people save money on things they are already doing anyway, and maybe make some extra income if they chose to share it with others.

Solavei is a company that I really trust. They have excellent leadership with a proven track record and great vision for the future. Over 300,000 people have switched to the Solavei service since 9/2012 , and they have paid the members over $ 18 million in referral fees and bonuses just since 9/2012. I believe in the company and leadership completely, and I know they are poised to be here for the long haul.

For example, my own cell phone bill went from 129 a month, now its down to 39 a month, for the same great 4g service with voice data and text.

Last month, the company even paid me a few hundred dollars because of my sharing it with others, and that is ongoing income, month after month.

If you know anybody who would like to save money, or start to earn some extra income, or maybe both, please refer them to :

I wish everybody has a great 2014!
